DiAnn thrilled those in attendance when she filled a table at Pappadeaux, The Woodlands, with some of her current and past novels she was selling insanely cheap. After a bit of Christmas book shopping and before our delicious seafood items arrived, DiAnn spoke on a few miscellaneous topics before diving into her main workshop, Writing Romance That Sells.
Many in attendance were amazed to learn that DiAnn is Member #1 of the ACFW. She was one of the founding members of the then ACRW (American Christian Romance Writers) and served as secretary/treasurer and membership coordinator.
Some of the gems of information we learned from DiAnn are that all genres need some kind of romance because the majority of our books are purchased by women and we all search for that little bit of romance in our lives. DiAnn also covered hero/heroine characterization, emotive conflict, plot and climax.

Here is but one of the fantastic quotes I gleaned from the workshop:
“All stories needs to start in the middle of something horrible that is about to happen.”

DiAnn did a fantastic job teaching us how to take our writing to the next level. Not only is she an awesome writer and speaker, but I can honestly say that she is a truly inspiring woman of God, and we were very blessed to have her. Makes me anxious for October 2009 when DiAnn will return for an entire workshop on “Emotive Conflict”!
